"ONE GUY in Concert"

Called the "Victor Borge of the Guitar," Gordy's unique mix of classical guitar playing and comedy mesmerizes audiences. His fingers fly as he plays Bach and Bluegrass in the same breath, Mozart on "12 cups of good, strong cowboy coffee," and a foot-stomping turn of "Classical Gas." A generous sprinkle of stand-up musical comedy and songs make this 90-minute concert wonderfully unique and entertaining, and perfect for any audience in any venue.

“I do not exaggerate when I say that in terms of musical acumen, interpretive command, and convincing delivery, Gordy has few equals (and even fewer, if indeed any, superiors)."Laurette Goldberg, San Francisco Conservatory of Music

Gordy's entertaining history of western music through the repertoire of the classical guitar, includes a unique playing style and extraordinary interpretations of some of the best songs ever written. Often referred to as the "Garrison Keillor of the West," Gordy has created a full-length concert that is musically amazing and hysterically funny.

In Gordy's character-driven comedy, you'll meet Orville T. Saddlesore, "a chewed up old cowboy" who offers up Words of Western Wisdom; Joe California, a cool dude struggling to survive his first winter; Sven Norskypoop ("Ya, you betcha!"); Joe Prosciutto, a New Yorker suffering culture shock; and , of course, Gordy, a character in his own right.

This one-man entertainment tour de force with its delicious blend of dazzling Spanish Guitar playing, original songs, sensational songs by some of Gordy's favorite songwriters, and comedy engages and delights audiences of all ages.

Gordy's Experience

As a teen-ager, Gordy was introduced to classical guitar music when a friend dropped the needle on Julian Bream record. Gordy said, "Hey, those guys are great." The friend responded, "That's one guy." It was the beginning of a lifelong love for the classical guitar and the ONE GUY.

Gordy has played concert halls from Vancouver to San Francisco to New York. He began performing his unique brand of stand-up musical comedy in 1990 and now does more than 100 corporate comedy shows a year across the country. Equally comfortable playing at a small-town stock show as an upscale corporate banquet, Gordy's engaging performance style delights audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Gordy studied classical guitar and ancient music at Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY; the Royal College of Music, London, England; and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. While in the Bay Area, Gordy toured with La Corte Musical, a medieval Spanish music group, playing such ancient instruments as the lute and oud.

A music and theater professional for over 30 years, Gordy grew up in summer stock theater and has been writing songs and creating theatrical pieces since the age of 15. He has toured nationally and internationally with major theatrical productions. As the owner of Deadwood Production Company and One Guy LLC, Gordy wrote 12 historical shows, including "Calamity Jane: The Wild Woman of the West," "Wild Bill Hickok: Gunfighter and Lawman"; "SETH BULLOCK: The Spirit of the West" ; and the musical comedy mellerdrammer, "The Desperate Damsels of Deadwood," were performed more than 3,000 times.
